Ingredients:

No. Ingredient
1 1 (9-inch) pie crust without pre-baking
2 4 slices of bacon
3 1 diced onion
4 ¼ cup unsalted butter
5 1 beaten egg
6 2 large eggs
7 1 ¼ cups sour cream
8 1 cup grated cheddar cheese
9 ¼ cup softened cream cheese
10 Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Cook the bacon: In a skillet, cook the bacon until crispy over medium-high heat. Remove and crumble it into small pieces. Set aside.
  3. Prepare the crust: Prick the bottom of the pie crust with a fork and bake for 15 minutes. Remove from the oven. Brush the crust with beaten egg and bake for an additional 5 minutes. Set aside.
  4. Caramelize the onions: In the same skillet, melt half the butter and sauté the diced onion until soft and translucent for about 5 minutes. Reduce heat to low and caramelize the onions, cooking and stirring for approximately 40 minutes until brown.
  5. Whisk the egg mixture: In a bowl, whisk together the 2 large eggs, sour cream, softened cream cheese, salt, and black pepper.
  6. Assemble the quiche: Spread the remaining butter and caramelized onions over the pie crust. Add half of the grated cheddar cheese. Sprinkle crumbled bacon over the cheese. Follow with the egg mixture and top with the remaining cheese.
  7. Bake: Place the quiche in the preheated oven and bake for about 30-35 minutes or until the filling sets, and the crust turns golden brown.
  8. Serve: Allow the quiche to cool slightly before slicing and serving. Garnish with additional bacon or sliced green onions if desired.
