Pinky swear, this is the only bread recipe I’ve been successful with
Ingredients:
Ingredients | Quantity |
---|---|
All-purpose flour | 5½ cups |
Warm water | 2 cups |
Salt | 1½ teaspoons |
Vegetable (or olive) oil | 1/4 cup |
Granulated sugar (can also do less, if desired) | 1/4 cup |
Yeast | 1½ tablespoons |
Instructions:
- Combine warm water and sugar, ensuring the sugar dissolves. Add yeast to the mixture and let it proof until foamy. Mix in the oil once the yeast has proofed.
- In a separate bowl, combine flour and salt.
- Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, stirring until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough for 3-5 minutes.
- Place the dough in an oiled bowl, coating both sides with oil.
- Allow the dough to rise for one hour.
- After rising, deflate the dough and shape it into loaves.
- Put the shaped dough into greased 2 bread pans.
- Let the dough rise for an additional 30-40 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake the loaves for approximately 30 minutes.
- While the bread is still warm, brush the tops with butter.
