Old Time Oven Peach Cobbler

Old-fashioned peach cobbler is a timeless dessert that’s simple to make and showcases the delicious flavor of fresh peaches. Here’s a classic recipe for an Old Time Oven Peach Cobbler:

Ingredients:

For the Peach Filling:

  • 6 cups fresh peaches, peeled and sliced
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Cobbler Topping:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the sliced peaches, sugar, lemon juice, and vanilla extract. Toss until the peaches are well coated. Let the mixture sit for about 15-20 minutes to allow the juices to develop.
  3. Meanwhile, in another bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt for the cobbler topping.
  4. Add the milk to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; a few lumps are okay.
  5. Melt the butter and pour it into a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  6. Pour the cobbler batter over the melted butter in the baking dish, but do not stir.
  7. Spoon the peach filling evenly over the batter. Again, do not stir.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes or until the cobbler topping is golden brown and cooked through.
  9. Allow the peach cobbler to cool for a few minutes before serving.

Serve the Old Time Oven Peach Cobbler warm, either on its own or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra treat. The combination of sweet, juicy peaches and the buttery cobbler topping is sure to be a hit!
