Italian Christmas Cookies

During the holiday season, making Italian Christmas cookies has been a cherished tradition in my family. The kitchen fills with warmth and laughter as we gather to bake and share these delightful treats. The aroma of vanilla and the creamy texture of ricotta cheese create a festive atmosphere that truly embodies the spirit of Christmas.

Ingredients:

Ingredient Quantity
Butter, softened ½ cup
White sugar 1 cup
Eggs 2
Vanilla extract 1 teaspoon
Ricotta cheese 8 ounces
All-purpose flour 2 cups
Baking soda ½ teaspoon
Salt ¼ teaspoon
Butter, softened 2 tablespoons
Confectioners’ sugar 2 cups
Vanilla extract ¼ teaspoon
Milk 1 ½ tablespoons

Instructions:

  1. Preheat and Grease: Preheat the oven to 350°F, grease cookie sheets.
  2. Cream and Mix: Cream 1/2 cup butter and sugar, add eggs and ricotta. Combine dry ingredients, gradually mix into the cheese mixture.
  3. Drop and Bake: Drop rounded teaspoonfuls onto sheets, bake for 8-10 minutes until golden. Cool on a wire rack.
  4. Frosting: Cream remaining butter and confectioners’ sugar. Beat in vanilla and milk until spreadable. Frost cooled cookies.
