Inside Prince Harry’s plans for Archie and Lilibet’s future – Here’s what they’ll inherit
Appearing at a special event alongside former US president Bill Clinton, the Duke of Sussex delivered a powerful speech on how to handle the challenges that arise by the online world and how cyberspace can affect children, including his own, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
“I stand before you today to speak about the pervasive threat that our online world poses to us, especially our children. If we allow the status quo to remain in an age where our lives are intertwined with technology, we cannot afford to only see the online world as a space for profitability, competition, and rapid growth instead,” Prince Harry said at the Clinton Foundation summit.
The Duke then spoke of the addiction the phones and the Internet create at children, forcing them to spend hours on the digital landscape while being “fed” content not suitable for children, dubbing the online environment as “hostile and overwhelming” for the youngsters.
“Some say kids will be kids and well, that may well be true. Kids may get into trouble. I know a thing or two about that. But our kids are being targeted. The harmful effects of social media are made by design,” Harry added.
Further, the Duke made an appearance at an event supporting The HALO Trust, organization close to his late mother’s heart.
The HALO trust is an international organization committed to clearing landmines that the late Princess supported. Less than a year before her tragic death, Princess Diana walked through a minefield in Angola. “The mine is a stealthy killer,” she had said. “Long after conflict is ended, its innocent victims die or are wounded singly, in countries of which we hear little. Their lonely fate is never reported.”
Harry is now continuing his mother’s legacy by supporting that organization himself. And not only this particular organization, but plenty of others as well.
During the event, stated that since his last visit to Angola a lot has changed, including him becoming a father for the second time.
“While you don’t need children to have a stake in the future of our planet, I do know that my mother would have been horrified that anyone’s children or grandchildren would live in a world still infested with mines,” he continued.
Prince Harry is indeed a committed father to Archie and Lili and does everything in his power to secure a bright future for them, as well as for children in general.
Recently, when he celebrated his 40th birthday, Harry received a significant amount of money from his great-grandmother, Queen Mother, who had set up trust funds for all of her great-grandchildren, making sure they all receive tax-free money on the day they turn 40.
“There was a trust fund set up at the time. It was a way in which the Queen Mother could set aside money for when her great-grandchildren were older and a way of passing a slice of her estate down in a tax-efficient way. It was a way in which some of her estate could be ring-fenced for them,” a former palace aid told Express.
