Ellen DeGeneres takes a major step in cutting ties with the US

Ellen DeGeneres and her wife, Portia de Rossi, have reportedly taken significant steps to establish a life outside of the United States. Following the outcome of the 2024 presidential election in the U.S., the couple made the decision to relocate and have chosen the picturesque Cotswolds region of England as their new home.

This move involved a substantial real estate transaction in the UK, with DeGeneres and de Rossi purchasing a property valued at $18 million. This acquisition followed the sale of their real estate holdings in California. Their California home was reportedly sold for $29.9 million, and they also parted with a two-bedroom bungalow located in Montecito, which garnered considerable interest and sold for $5.2 million after receiving “multiple offers.”

Their transition to life in England has not been entirely seamless. Reports indicate that they have faced some challenges, including issues with flooding in the area and some “complaints about construction work” potentially related to their new property or nearby developments. Despite these initial hurdles, DeGeneres and de Rossi appear to be actively settling into their new surroundings. They have reportedly identified another property that appeals to them, having visited it on several occasions. Sources suggest they are looking for a residence with similar characteristics to their former California home, indicating a desire to maintain a certain lifestyle and comfort in their new English setting.
