A Little Dog Left Behind, But Not Forgotten

Sometimes, taking care of a pet with special needs, like a dog or cat that can’t walk, might seem like a big challenge. However, people who have done it often say it brings them a lot of happiness. Sadly, there are many sweet animals with disabilities who end up being left alone.

One such dog was Lunita. In May of 2014, she was found on the streets in Salta, Argentina. She had been abandoned with a few things, including “a bag of diapers and a note” that explained she had a disability. Poor Lunita even had the broken remains of a wheelchair still attached to her back legs. Luckily, a kind animal rescue organization called LUBA Salta found her and took her in to help.

After being rescued, Lunita went to live in a temporary “foster home.” The people at LUBA Salta shared her story online, hoping someone would want to give her a permanent loving home. Eventually, a family in the United States saw her story and decided to adopt her. However, things didn’t go as planned at first. It seems Lunita didn’t receive the right kind of care she needed, and this sadly led to her getting very bad infections.

Despite this difficult time, Lunita was strong, and eventually, she found another family. This new family gave her so much love and made sure she got the medical attention she needed. With their care, Lunita got better and started to enjoy her life.

In her new home, Lunita really blossomed. She got to experience many wonderful things, like seeing “her first snowfall,” going on trips, making new animal and human “friends,” and even celebrating a special milestone – “her 11th birthday with a special cake.” It sounds like she was truly loved and cherished.

Sadly, after her birthday celebration, Lunita’s health started to get worse. In the end, she “passed away surrounded by her family,” who loved her very much.

Even though Lunita faced some tough times in her life, her final years were filled with “love and joy.” Her story really shows us “the power of perseverance,” both for animals who face challenges and for the kind people who open their hearts and homes to them. Rest peacefully, dear Lunita. You were a brave and loved little dog.
